Description

After meeting your excursion bus at the cruise ship pier, embark on a scenic 90 mins drive to the former home of the legendary Reggae icon, Bob Marley. Re-live this era as you walk through his home; visit the mausoleum-his final resting place and interact with some of his close relatives. Then enjoy Jamaica's traditional jerk cuisine, before heading back to Montego Bay for shopping and sightseeing, prior to returning to the pier!

Drive along the scenic north coast before turning through the mountains to Nine Miles, a quaint village in the beautiful mountains of St. Ann.  It was here, on the 6th of February the legendary ‘King of Reggae’ was born and it is the very same place where he was laid to rest. As you pass through the rural countryside, your driver/guide will tell you about some of the events that have occurred in this area, and provide cultural information about Jamaica and its people.

A tour of Nine Miles is a family affair as many of Bob’s close relatives live there. The tour takes you through the simple house Bob lived as a young boy.  Learn about places where he gained inspiration for some of his greatest songs, such as Three Little Birds and Talking Blues. You can also see the rock he sang about. Local Rastafarian guides will tell you stories about Bob Marley's early days, his life, musical career and his love of football and women.

Then visit the mausoleum where he was laid to rest. This is considered a sacred place, where shoes must be removed, and candles can be lit in his memory. There is a display of photographs and album covers that document his career. At the site there’s a gift shop with souvenirs such as T-Shirts, music CDs, hats, mugs, and other memorabilia, as well as snack bar available for sale. Then stop at the rustic settings of Ultimate Jerk Centre for a delicious meal consisting of jerk chicken, or jerk pork with side orders and drinks.  On your return to Montego Bay, drive up to the “High level Road” for spectacular views of the ocean and the International Airport, then through the Town's square for a window view of the statue of our national hero, Samuel Sharpe, and our cultural museum. A picturesque moment.
